For this Project my subject was Charles church, which in situated in Plymouth. What drew me to Charles Church  is the fact that it is in complete ruin, but we desperately are trying to preserve it. I also noticed that it doesn't fit in well with Plymouth, it looks disjointed and out of place in the city center, especially as it is right next to drake’s circus which has a completely different aesthetic to it. This church stands as a living memorial to all the people who resided in Plymouth that lost their lives during the World War II raids. As each generation passes, less and less people will know who these people were due to not being there and knowing them. This is also the same for Plymouth at the time. So the memories fade, therefore the building does not mean as much to the people of today as it did for the people of past generations. It eventually just becomes a part of the scenery, although it is visually impressive and is known for being a memorial, I can't help feel that it is not being fully appreciated for what it embodies. I believe that the location does not do it any justice. Being in the middle of a roundabout in city center, where vehicles are constantly populating the surrounding area.
