Chaos

I am exploring the concepts of Chaos theory and the butterfly effect. My main point of focus is that a singular thing we do or event can change the outcome of the course dramatically. This idea of control and the uncontrollable led me down the path of exploration through paint as my primary medium. I control many elements to these pieces such as colour, ratio of paint, how much I dilute the paint and control over its movement. However, I cannot control how the paint drys, what colours come through and what ones don't, what marks come out of the paint etc. I am exploring this idea of control, how much we can have at any given time, how much we can effect our own paths or others, and how we cannot control everything. Also the idea of little things can make a huge impact, doing something slightly different can ultimately change the outcome entirely. These paintings all have slightly different processes and has shown in the outcome, as they are all very different, yet made very similar.
I experimented with a magnitude of colours however, I put heavy emphasis on exploring the colour blue as I drew inspiration from the Morpho Didius butterfly. This butterfly is a key symbol behind the chaos theory and butterfly effect, it also goes hand in hand with this saying

"It has been said that something as small as a butterfly's wing can ultimately cause a typhoon halfway around the world."-Chaos Theory.
